Professional tooth cleaning – a central element of dental care

Before a professional tooth cleaning, the dentist prepares a report on the current status of the teeth and oral hygiene. 1. Basic cleaning by ultrasound
First, soft and coarse deposits are removed with the help of ultrasound. Some patients find the noise unpleasant, but this procedure is very effective. Please contact us in advance and we will try to make your stay as pleasant as possible.


2. Removal of solid deposits
Subsequently, curettes and scalers are used to remove the stubborn solid deposits that are located on the hard-to-reach interdental spaces or tooth surfaces. This leads to a scratching action, which does not attack the tooth enamel.


3. Cleaning of the interdental spaces
Next, the remaining deposits are removed by flossing. For very severe discoloration, we use the air-flow process. However, it depends on the individual tooth status. If you have strongly exposed tooth necks, we do not recommend this method.

4. Polishing
Then we polish your teeth with a handheld device and various attachments to remove any roughening and scratches. Various polishing pastes are used here, which make your teeth shine.
